Giants need host families

The Holyoke Giants baseball team is looking for families to host their players this summer. The players live in your homes from approximately the beginning of June until the beginning of August. Giants' players are college students from around the country who come to play summer baseball in Holyoke to gain the experience, confidence and the contacts they need to further their careers. Please look over our roster and see the player's names, stats, hometowns and colleges they attend by visiting www.holyokegiants.com.

Each host family will receive: an invitation to a pre-season reception, a special lifetime pass to all regular season games, on field recognition at the last home game of the season, and a chance to have a future major leaguer live in their home.

The host family will be responsible for:

  • A room and bedding for eight weeks (beginning of June to beginning of August)

  • Meals as needed (players will be away for 21 games)

  • Provide a safe and welcoming environment for the player

    Player responsibilities:

  • Providing his own transportation,

  • Using his own telephone calling cards,

  • Being considerate and mindful of the host family household.

  • The Holyoke Giants are a member of The New England Collegiate Baseball League, a Premier Collegiate Wood Bat League attracting top College prospects from around the country.

The Giants home field, MacKenzie Stadium, hosts 21 dates. The first home game will be vs. the NECBL 2006 Champion Vermont Montaineers on June 12. The Giants open their 42 game season this year in Vermont on June 8, 2007 vs. the 2006 NECBL Champion Vermont Mountaineers.

For more information on becoming a Holyoke Giants host family, please call Giants General Manager Sam Melnick at 1-774-270-0545 or email Sam at smelnick@holyokegiants.com.
