Cheerleaders honored The East Longmeadow Suburban Youth Cheerleaders recently received the Spirit Stick during an exhibition in Westfield. East Longmeadow Suburban Cheerleading coordinator Walter Kenny explained that this honor is given to the most spirited squad at a competition/exhibition. Fifty-four girls, in grades three to eight, participate in the town's cheerleading program, learning tumbling, stunting and cheering. Members of the Pee Wee, Junior and Senior squads cheer-on the East Longmeadow Youth Football teams at their games. Many go on to pursue cheerleading in high school and college.
