Cancer House of Hope bicycle trek

Pedaling for Hope

On Sunday, May 21st the 5th Annual Heidi's Chain of Hope bicycle trek will take place at the Cancer House of Hope in Westfield, MA. Riders of all ages and levels will participate in the day long event in which the riders may choose to ride, 10, 25 or 62 mile routes.

The ride is named in memory of Heidi Hannon, who was one of the founders of the original Chain of Hope trek. Heidi partook in the services offered by the House while suffering from breast cancer until she passed in 2003.

The Cancer House of Hope (CHH) provides support groups, relaxation programs and infor-mation to people with cancer and their families and friends. Located in both Westfield, 86 Court St., and Springfield, 946 Plumtree Rd., each House is in a home-like setting, filled with comfortable furniture, knowledgeable volun-teers and staff, and a range of programs and services that extend over the entire spectrum of the

cancer experience. All programs and services are free-of-charge.

In order to participate riders must raise a minimum of $150.00 in pledges and pay a $25.00 registration fee. (Riders who register the day of the ride will pay $30.00). Helmets must be worn during the ride. Children 16 and under must ride with a parent or legal guardian. All proceeds raised will benefit the Cancer House of Hope.

The 62 mile trek starts at 8am. The 25 mile trek starts at 10am and the 10 mile trek starts at 11am. Shirts are given to the first 100 participants, along with a goodie bag upon registration. All routes are equipped SAG support, bike mechanics and rest stops which provide food, drink and snacks.

There is a cook-out for all participants immediately follow-ing the rides. Food, drink, raffles, and music will be provided for all.

For registration forms or more information please call 413-821-6988 or email heidischainofhope@comcast.net.
