Bay State Games - July 10-23

The 25th anniversary of The Massachusetts Amateur Sports Foundation (MASF) Bay State Summer Games is taking place July 10-23. This benchmark Summer Games offers 25 sports to athletes of all ages and abilities. Eastern Massachusetts is the home to the first weekend of finals July 10-16, while Central Mass. plays host to the festival sports and ice hockey July 17-23.

Each year, the MASF relies on the assistance of over 1,500 volunteers to run the Bay State Summer Games. Competitions take place at 17 different venues across Eastern and Central Massachusetts at which volunteers are needed. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age, and will be asked to work approximately 4-5 hour shifts during competition.

Venues where volunteers are needed include UMass-Boston, Harvard University, MIT, and Emmanuel College. Volunteers will receive a 2006 Bay State Summer Games t-shirt, as well as food and beverages while helping at the Games. Volunteers are needed to sell merchandise, assistance with registration and answering questions athletes may have, as well as keeping time and scores for specified sports.

Anyone who is interested in volunteering at the Bay State Summer Games may contact Stephen Ippolito at Stephenl@baystategames.org or 781-932-6555. For a complete listing of volunteer opportunities and to download a volunteer form, visit the Games' website at www.baystategames.org/summer/volunteers.asp.
