Drive Carefully... School Is Open

"It's the most wonderful time of the year!" Moms and dads rejoice you survived another long, hot summer and now the kids are headed back to school.

We thought work was difficult until we spent the entire day with our kids at home. Kids need lots of love and attention...not necessarily in that order! Kids need to be kept busy...all day long. That takes a lot of thought, creativity, and perseverance.

Which brings us to the respect we have for teachers. Teachers are a special breed. Due to the fact that in most homes today both parents work, teachers are required to do way more than just teach academics. Teachers also need to provide training in morals, manners, & basic values. That's easier said than done when you consider all the other things teachers must do in addition to teaching today.

So...what can you do to help? Parents can get involved with their local PTO's. To contact your PTO, simply call your child's school and ask for the number of the current PTO contact person.

Anyone interested in volunteering their time can contact teachers or principals directly.

Parents need to take an active interest in their child's education. Ask questions; be supportive to your child. And, don't be afraid to send an apple to your favorite teacher every now and then. It's nice to know you are appreciated.

Sincerely,
Chris & Dan
Two Macho Fathers
with Great Big Hearts

P.S. We'd like to thank our Dad for being our best teacher. (Granted it took us over 30 years to become smart enough to listen, but it was worth the wait.)
