A poem for Memorial Day

Some stand alone

Mid flags and stones

Though many move about them.

A loved one gone

Gives hearts alarm

And sleepless nights without them.

All did serve well

Kind buddies tell

As some kind letters attest.

And some were brave

As lives they saved

When put to their final test.
