Chamber Music Society presents winter concertLONGMEADOW The Longmeadow Chamber Music Society will present a winter concert Jan. 20 at 8 p.m. at the First Church of Christ in Longmeadow. The concert will feature music for soprano, piano, violin, and cello. The performers are Karen Rich, soprano, Christopher Fecteau, piano, Marsha Harbison, violin, and Boris Kogan, cello. The program will include masterpieces from the romantic period of music: songs by Brahms, Alma Mahler, Richard Strauss, and the Brahms B major piano trio.
Soprano, Karen Rich, currently living and performing in New York City, is originally from Longmeadow and the daughter of Audrey Rich and the late Dr. Gordon Rich. She has traveled across America and Europe performing in concert, musical theater and opera.
Pianist, Christopher Fecteau, is currently the artistic director of the Dell'Arte Opera Ensemble of NYC and has been active in coaching and conducting operas in Florida, Washington DC, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Milwaukee.
Marsha Harbison, violinist and Boris Kogan, cellist, are both members of the Springfield Symphony and perform in numerous chamber music concerts in the Pioneer Valley.
The concert will include words about the composers and music, will last about 1 1/2 hours, and will be followed by a reception. Donations of $10 for non-members will be accepted at the door. The Longmeadow Chamber Music series is sponsored in part by generous donations from Health New England, the Longmeadow Cultural Council, area businesses, and loyal patrons.
